19th Century (1870-1900) English Oak & Silver Plated Ale Jug (4 Pint?) with silver plated Bacchus Spout and White Ivory-like Knob. Dimensions are approximately 8 1/2” tall and 5” wide at base.Oak body with silver plated banding, lid and handle. Silver Plate in overall very good antique condition with no repairs dents or scratches. For example: the spout is in excellent condition, the lid and banding show the most wear and are good. Oak is in overall very good condition with no loss of color or scratches. It appears that the oak attached in 4 parts with very minor separation from outer jug. Metal interior. Only marking is SS 1571 5. Purchased in London in the 1990s and used only for display. The item was never polished or restored as I wanted an aged, used look for display purposes.
